Public radio has been a part of Towson University for more than 26 years.

WTMD is licensed to and located at Towson University. WTMD carries a special responsibility as one of only a few, locally owned radio stations in Towson and Baltimore. 

We focus our music on songs that tell stories, and are performed by artists who are committed to their craft and the power that music can play in our lives.  It’s a mix of Folk, Blues and acoustic based Rock.  We feature artists that have been our life long companions and new artists who write their own material and truly believe in their art. In addition to today’s favorites feature multiple cuts from various albums in an attempt to understand what an artist is saying with their music.

Licensed to Towson University, WTMD is part of the University Advancement.  The station provides students with a variety of internship and independent study opportunities.  Towson University is the only institution of higher learning to offer a major in radio. 

The station is also home to Towson University Sports and broadcasts more than 40 Football, Basketball and Lacrosse games each year.  WTMD brings the University and its activities to the greater community through its programming.

WTMD is listener-supported radio and we believe it’s our responsibility to support local musicians.  We hope you’ll find the same excitement listening to these artists on the radio as you do when they play live at festivals and concert halls. WTMD serves as a forum for community news, current events, music and educational programming.
