CAREERS IN WOMEN’S STUDIES
The knowledge and perspectives provided by women’s studies fill needs
now being recognized in a variety of fields. In counseling, personnel,
or social services, there is a new awareness of the needs of women. A
women’s studies major can enhance one’s career opportunities in
education, health, government, business, media, the law, and public
service – as well as self-employment; it will also add to the kind of
personal understanding that contributes to success, regardless of an
individual’s career choice.
A student’s career
goals will determine the combination of courses necessary, but wherever
there is a need to understand women and an interest in the new roles
that they are playing in society, women’s studies is relevant to career
preparation. Women's studies alumnae of Towson University have held
