Members of Towson University's Wall
Street Investors' Investment Club (WiiC) visited New York
City from Friday, November 14 until Sunday, November 16 to
visit with firms and professionals in the financial
industry. While in the city, students gained further insight
into the current state of the financial markets, the
operation of financial institutions, and possible career
opportunities. Students organized meetings with individuals
from JPMorgan Asset Management, the New York Mercantile
Exchange, Seeking Alpha, and the New York Times.
Among other things,
members arranged a meeting with former WiiC President and
Towson University CBE graduate, Matthew Hobby. Matthew Hobby
currently works as a dual contractor at JPMorgan in
Manhattan. Matthew Hobby discussed his career and tactics of
being successful in the financial industry.
Make It Count

On December 3, 2008, WiiC
Co-President Chris Allulis and Portfolio Manager Daniel
Miller had
the opportunity to participate in an economic panel
discussion at Towson University’s first Make It Count.
The event was hosted by Ed Norris Show
on 105.7FM and was a 3 hour
open forum discussion on a wide range of topics.
The discussion was geared towards
college students and included three separate panels that
were made up of experts in the various fields.
Reservoir High School
On December 10, 2008, members of WiiC
presented information on the financial industries and
portfolio management to business track students at Reservoir
High School in Howard County, MD. In our continuing quest to
expand high school students' understanding of the financial
markets and careers in finance, WiiC presented on topics
ranging from the stock market, methods of establishing a
satisfactory portfolio, and information on career
opportunities.
