Towson University Grant Opportunity for Professional Development school Teachers
Mentoring to Master Technology Integration Project (MM-TIP) - 2003-2004
http://www.towson.edu/tip

DUE DATE:  October 30, 2003

Background and Purpose

Since September 1999, the College of Education has been working to enhance the use of technology in teaching through teacher professional development with technology mentor program. The primary goal of this grant program – Preparing Tomorrow’s Teachers to Use Technology (PT3) - is to help PDS teachers expand their technology skills for use in teaching and modeling this technology integration for pre-service teachers (i.e. student interns) as well as their peers.

Using this modeling approach, pre-service teachers will develop a stronger background in technology integration to draw upon as they move into the classroom.  We believe that technology, used wisely in instruction, can improve student learning and higher-level thinking.  Working with their technology mentor, PDS teachers (i.e. protégés) will enhance their knowledge of technology integration and demonstrate this use to pre-service teachers.

Time Frame

This grant program will run from November 2003 - May 2004.  During the fall and winter of 2003-04, PDS teachers will work with their technology mentor to gain greater expertise in the use of technology both personally and in their teaching. In the spring of 2004, protégés will continue working with mentors as they integrate technology in their classes.

Incentives

To reward participants of this program we are able to offer the following incentives:

Grant Requirements

Priority will be given to first time awardees; however, we will also accept applications from previous grant winners.  Previous grant winners should submit a proposal for a different project or one that demonstrates significant growth upon the initial project.  View a complete listing of program requirements and data collection instruments, at http://www.towson.edu/tip/requirements.htm

Examples of Technology Projects Integrated into Teaching
