In this grant project, we employ a faculty-to-faculty mentor/protégé professional development model to support technology integration in the classroom. We successfully used this model in our capacity-building PT3 grant project and continue this model with our current implementation grant. The 4 keys to our success, we believe, are: 1. The on-going work and assistance of a mentor to help each faculty protégé integrate technology into their teaching. 2. A supportive environment for collaboration and learning for each protégé. 3. A requirement that all faculty involved as protégés use technology in their teaching with a focus on student learning. 4. Clear and specific rewards for integrating technology into teaching. Our ultimate goal is to provide a superior teacher preparation program for our future 21st century educators. To accomplish this, we need faculty who are proficient technology users, are proficient and creative at integrating technology into their teaching to enhance student learning, and model this integration to pre-service teachers. |
