Campus to Upgrade to Office 2003

Faculty/Staff: Become an Early Adopter!

Microsoft Office 2003 has been around since, well, 2003. However, many faculty and staff have not had the opportunity to upgrade to this version--but they will soon!

The timing is right in terms of security. Older versions of software, including Office 2000, are at the end of their lifecycle and, as a result, aren't getting the attention to security that newer versions do. No one wants to be a victim of identity theft or virus attacks, and OTS is eager to ensure this doesn't happen to you.

To reach the goal of upgrading campus computers to Office 2003 by summer 2006, OTS will be working in each building, coordinating the upgrade with department heads. Faculty and staff are encouraged to take advantage of the Early Adopter program.

Advantages of Being an Early Adopter

• Avoid the crunch and install Office 2003 before the majority of the campus. Be assured that OTS staff will be available to promptly address any questions or concerns.
• Choose a convenient date and time for the installation that works for you. The installation only takes about 30-60 minutes.
• Complete the installation yourself with just a few mouse clicks, or if you wish, an OTS field support representative can be scheduled for the installation.
• Give yourself extra time to review OTS Training's many Office 2003 Self-Help Documents and Movie Tutorials, or attend workshops.

Qualifications and Limitations

• The upgrade only applies to Windows-based desktop and notebook computers currently running Microsoft Office 2000. Macintosh systems are not eligible.
• If you would like to upgrade your home computer to Office 2003, you can purchase the MEEC version through the University Store for just $15.

How to Initiate the Early Adopter Program

If you'd like to participate in this great opportunity and you've verified that your computer is currently running Office 2000, please contact the Help Center at 410-704-5151 and indicate that you would like to take advantage of the Office 2003 Early Adopter Program. A Help Center representative will add your computer to the installation list, and within 24 hours you will receive instructions for installing Office 2003.
