TU in Italy - American University of Rome
The American University of Rome (AUR) offers the benefits of an American-style education taught by a multinational faculty in an international setting, to a student body representing every continent in the world. The student body is 60 percent American and 40 percent multinational. All courses are taught in English.
AUR is housed in two lovely four-story villas on the crest of Rome's highest hill, the Janiculum. The villa contains classrooms, an auditorium, a library, two computer centers, offices and a student lounge. It is a short walk to the historic Trastevere district, which offers a full range of amenities. Surrounded by a garden, the campus is also close to two major parks and is connected to the center of Rome by several bus lines.
Rome is Italy’s largest city with over 2.7 million residents. It is the third most visited tourist destination in the European Union, and its historic centre is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rome's history as a city spans over two and a half thousand years, as one of the founding cities of western civilization.
Academic Information:15 U.S. credits (five courses) per semester / 6 U.S. credits (two courses) per summer. All students participating in the TU in Italy program in the fall or spring are strongly encouraged to enroll in an Italian language class during their semester abroad. TU students may receive Honors College credit for their study abroad experience.
Language of Instruction: English (except for Italian language courses).
Excursions: The American University of Rome offers a range of academic and cultural optional excursions which students may participate in for an additional fee. Typical destinations include Pompeii, Venice, Florence, Bologna, and the Basque country.
Housing: Students share a rented apartment organized through the university's approved real estate agency in Rome. Apartments are furnished and usually consist of 2-3 double-occupancy bedrooms, a living area, kitchen and bathroom. Telephone, linens, and access to a washing machine are provided.

Cost includes academic credit (15 credits), housing, health insurance, airport pick-up, and orientation. Additional costs include airfare, meals, visa and passport fees,
personal expenses, and a $300 study abroad fee.
Summer 2012 (Session I or Session II): $4,900
Cost includes academic credit (6 credits), housing, health insurance, airport pick-up, and orientation. Additional costs include airfare, meals, visa and passport fees,
personal expenses, and a $150 study abroad fee.
*The Towson University Study Abroad Office reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.
Eligibility: Must be a full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student with an overall GPA of 2.5. Sophomore/Junior/Senior status. No previous knowledge of the Italian language required.
Application Process: Fill out the application and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $50 application fee. Non-TU students must also submit a completed Non-Degree Enrollment Application.
