How much does the program cost?

Who do I pay?
You will receive an e-bill from the Towson University Bursar’s Office for the program cost and study abroad fee. The Bursar's Office will no longer be sending paper bills to your home address. Fall and spring participants will pay the American University of Rome directly for housing - the housing fee must be submitted in full when you submit the housing form. Housing costs are included in the summer program fee.

Can I use my Financial Aid?
Federal financial aid and scholarships are accepted by the USM Program in Rome. Check with your home institution for any limitations. Students wishing to use financial aid or scholarships must submit a copy of their financial aid or scholarship award letter to the TU Study Abroad Office.

Can I use a payment plan?
Students may use the AMS Payment plan to make payment in installments. Contact Dawn Kuessner in the TU Bursar’s Office for information at 410-704-5239.

Where can I find course information?
Students will be notified when course lists become available for their term of study. Please visit the American University of Rome's website to view their course catalog.

When can I register for classes?
Students will be notified when the course registration period for their term will begin. For the fall and spring registration generally opens 2 – 3 months before the start of the semester. For the summer program, registration generally opens in mid-April. You cannot register directly with the American University of Rome - course registration forms should be returned to the Towson University Study Abroad Office.

What are the dates of the program?
Fall: late August - mid-December
Spring: mid-January - mid-May
Academic Year: late August - mid-May
Summer: late May - late June

Are there any good hotels close to the American University of Rome?
The American University of Rome is located in the Monteverde area of Rome. Many of the student apartments are in Trastevere – easily accessible to downtown, lots of restaurants, bars etc. www.venere.com is an excellent website for finding hotels in Rome by region.

Can I request a roommate?
Every effort will be made to accommodate roommate requests but cannot be guaranteed. You should indicate your request on the housing form. All housing arrangements are made by the American University of Rome.

Do I need to take bed linens, pots and pans, and towels with me if I will be living in university arranged housing?
No. These items will be provided in the university facilitated apartments. For more information regarding housing please check the AUR Housing Booklet.
