International Business in Panama City, Panama

Spend 18 days studying International Business in tropical Panama in Minimester 2009. Panama City is one of the most cosmopolitan and modern cities in Latin America offering a safe and friendly environment for your study abroad experience. Program highlights include a tour of the Panama Canal locks, a 2-day stay at a beach resort , and a tour of the rainforest.
Trade with Latin America has become routine in the global marketplace and business students with knowledge of Latin American culture are now sought after by major U.S. corporations. Students will take an International Business course (MNGT 375) plus an introductory course in Panamanian culture. The program includes visits to local companies, a local newspaper, and advertising and marketing agencies.
Instructor: Dr. Bill Smith, Towson University Department of Management.
Course: MNGT 375 International Business (3 credits) plus LAST 484 Panamanian and Central American Culture (3 credits). Students may receive credit for MNGT 484 instead of LAST 484 with permission of the instructor.
Students should have completed BUSX 301 or equivalent to participate in the program.

Housing: Accommodations in the Hotel Las Vegas in Panama are included in the program fee. Students stay in shared hotel suites with kitchen facilities.
Cost:*$3,400 includes tuition (6 credits), health insurance, housing, roundtrip airfare, and excursions. Students will be responsible for their own meals - some group dinners will be included. Breakfast is included at some locations. Additional costs include $150 study abroad fee, meals, and personal expenses.
*The Towson University Study Abroad Office reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.

Application Process: Students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and be a BUAD major and already completed BUSX 301. Non-TU students should contact the faculty instructor regarding eligibility.
Fill out the application (PDF) and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $250 deposit required at time of application. Non-TU students must also submit a completed Non-Degree Enrollment Application (PDF).
