TU in France - Traveling Seminar
The TU in France Traveling Seminar offers a 19-day academic and cultural tour of 12 key cities in France, Morocco and Spain - Paris, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille, Gibraltar, Algeciras, Sevilla, Granada, Madrid, Marrakesh, Casablanca, and Rabat.
The program features a series of briefings from leading European academic, literary, and political personalities and experts on the European relationship with the Islamic world. Participants will attend daily lectures and meetings with distinguished scholars in addition to local guides and experts in the field of politics, history, and culture.
Participants will also explore architectural wonders like the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca, La Mezquita in Cordoba, and La Alhambra in Granada and examine artwork in world renowned museums like the Musee D’Orsay in Paris and El Prado in Madrid.
Academic Information: 3 U.S. credits (one course). Students choose one of the following courses:
- The Cultural History of Europe and the Islamic World
- Europe Politics and the Islamic World
- Jews, Muslims and Christians in Europe and the Islamic World
TU students may receive Honors College credit for their study abroad experience.
Language of Instruction: English
Program Dates: January 6-24, 2013
Housing: The program includes accomodation in three and four star hotels.
Costs: $4,450 includes academic credit, housing, daily breakfast and 11 evening meals, museum entrance fees, cultural activities, transportation to and from each city within Europe, health insurance, and orientation. Additional costs include all other meals, passport and visa fees, airfare, personal expenses, and the TU Study Abroad Fee ($150).
*The Towson University Study Abroad Office reserves the right to make any necessary changes including adjustments in cost in the event that unforeseen circumstances arise.
Eligibility: Must be a full-time undergraduate degree-seeking student with an overall GPA of 2.5. Sophomore/Junior/Senior status. No previous knowledge of the French language required.
Application Process: Fill out the application and submit it to the TU Study Abroad Office. $50 application fee. Non-TU students must also submit a completed Non-Degree Enrollment Application.
