Course Registration Requirements
- You must maintain full-time status while participating in the International Exchange Student Program at Towson University.
- To be a full-time student you must enroll in a minimum of 12 credit units. Middlesex University requires its students to register for 15 credit units at TU.
- 12 credit units normally correspond to 4 courses (3 credit units per course in general).
- You may register for a maximum of 15 credit units without incurring an overload surcharge.
- The overload surcharge is $40 per unit over 15 credit units.
Course Registration Procedures
- You will be registered for courses by the TU Study Abroad Office according to the course requests listed on your International Student Exchange Application.
- Students will be registered in the courses of their choice providing the courses are available and the student has undertaken equivalent prerequisite courses at their home institution (as determined by Towson University).
- Students studying at TU for a full academic year are responsible for registering for courses for the second semester through the TU Enrollment Services Office.
Schedule Changes – Drop/Add
- You may change your schedule after arrival during the first week of the semester. This is called the Drop/Add (Change of Schedule) Period.
- To change your schedule follow the Enrollment Services Drop/Add procedures.
- Some courses may already be closed (full) by the time the semester begins. If a course is already closed, you may go to the class on the first day and talk to the professor about adding the course. The instructor will determine whether to allow you to add the class.
- You must carry at least 12 credits at all times in order to maintain your immigration status. Do not drop a course until you know whether you can add another course.
