Civic Engagement

Civic Engagement Advisory Board

Purpose:

To facilitate the growth of civic engagement at Towson University by setting an institutional agenda, reviewing recommendations from working groups and developing strategies for securing resources to increase opportunities and understanding.

Roles of the Civic Engagement Advisory Board:

  • Influence the implementation of agreed upon strategies and practices for increasing civic engagement in five major areas:
                              
                                1. Service-Learning
                                2. Political Engagement
                                3. Community Principles
                                4. Environmental Initiatives
                                5. Community Service

     

  • Ensure some shared learning outcomes among the various civic engagement experiences offered to students.

     

  • Effectively integrate the numerous forms of civic engagement with the campus experience at Towson University.
