Leadership Resources

SGA Resource Area

This student-centered space offers a library of leadership and community service material, computers for student use, and both meeting and storage space for student organizations.  The room is located in our SGA complex, allowing for positive interaction between SGA members and the organizations they sponsor.  Its casual arrangement often results in impromptu group meetings and positive dialogue between student leaders.  Another popular feature of the Resource Room is monthly helpful handouts on both leadership and student organization related topics.

Resource Library Directory

This publication provides a comprehensive list of materials in our Leadership Library.  It includes descriptions of all books, videos, CD-ROMS, etc.  This directory, like any library search engine, makes it easier for students to locate what they are looking for rather then having to peruse hundreds of books for that perfect “icebreaker.”

Leadership Speaker Directory

This publication was created as a means to connect faculty and staff with student organizations.  It is a resource for locating a professional on campus that could speak on a particular topic.  A first edition of this directory included nearly 100 faculty and staff members.  Names are listed under particular topics such as Assertiveness, Self-Defense, Public Speaking, and Stress Management.  The more “standard” topics are listed as well, but the strength of this directory is being able to utilize the unique expertise of faculty and staff.

Student Organization Directory and Handbook

This publication is one of our most popular with students.  It lists and describes over 100 student organizations on campus.  Organizations are divided into 9 functional categories such as service organizations and recreational organizations.  These directories are handed out in abundance during Orientation and our Fall Student Involvement Fair.  The students themselves write the organization descriptions.  The Student Organization Handbook is a must-have for student organization leaders.  It includes valuable information on resources, policies, and events and programming.  It was designed to be very user-friendly, making it a handbook that students would want to read.

Meeting Consultations

Consider inviting Office of Student Activities staff to your next organizational meeting!  Staff members will be glad to just be an observer, but they can also offer you the service of a meeting consultation.  Staff can make notes on the positives and negatives of your meeting and report feedback to the leaders of your organization.  Contact Rachel Repp, 410-704-3307 or rrepp@towson.edu if you are interested.

Leadership Live! (For Towson University Faculty)

Office of Student Activities staff would welcome the opportunity to do leadership programming in your classroom.  Staff can present on a variety of topics, whether it is complimentary to your curriculum of if you are simply looking for a change of pace.  For the many times that faculty have served on selection committees or as conference presenters, OSA staff would be glad to return the favor.  Contact Rachel Repp, 410-704-3307 or rrepp@towson.edu if you are interested.
