Towson Novice Debaters Win Almost Heaven Debates at West Virginia University

Towson University novice debaters Iulia Voinova, a first year International Debate Scholar from Moldova, And Andreea Militaru, a first year International Debate Scholar from Romania won the Almost Heaven Debates At West Virginia University. The two women beat teams from John Carroll University, Pittsburg, Georgetown and West Virginia University finishing with a record of five wins and only one loss. Militaru won Top Speaker honors in the division and Voinova earned Fourth Place Speaker in the division. The TU Speech and Debate Team delegation this weekend also included Iman Brickus (second year debater from Baltimore), Normunds Pelnens (fourth year International Debate Scholar from Latvia), Adam Jackson (first year Urban Debate League Scholar) and Evelin Andrespok (second year International Debate Scholar from Estonia). These two junior varsity teams finished with 3-3 records in the Open Division The hard work of the students and coaching staff in preparation for our new season this summer is starting to pay off.
