Towson Speech and Debate Stand Out at
Three Events
1/22/2007
While some
students were resting before the semester starts, the weekend of January
20-21, 2007, Towson University Speech and Debate Team participants were
representing the university in competitions. Their accomplishments this
weekend show how dedicated they are to honing their art.
The Towson Speech
Team traveled to the West Chester University Hugs and Kisses Swing
tournament hosted by West Chester's team and their chapter of Pi Kappa
Delta. At the Hugs tournament on Saturday, David Biglari was third in
Impromptu Sales. Biglari and his partner Jordan Walter were fifth place in
Duo Interpretation. Biglari, Walter and Lauren Schein represented Towson
with distinction and were named the third place school in the Small School
Sweepstakes.
On Sunday, at the
Kisses tournament hosted by WCU and their alumni chapter of Pi Kappa Delta,
Towson was well represented again. Biglari and Walter won fourth place
honors in Duo Interpretation. Walter placed sixth in Dramatic
Interpretation. Biglari, Walter and Schein earned second place in the Pi
Kappa Delta sweepstakes.
Towson Debaters
took part in the Baltimore College Debate Tournament's Harriet Tubman
Debates. Barbora Ondruskova earned second speaker honors in the open
division. Iman Brickus earned the distinction of third speaker in that same
division. Brickus and partner Ben Crossnan reached semi-finals. Tamas Bako
earned the points to be named third speaker in the junior varsity division.
