Speech and Debate Students Shine in Ocean
City

Members of the Towson University Speech and Debate Team made an outstanding
showing at the Collegiate Forensics Association Tournament in Ocean City
March 2-3, 2007
Mary Shea Mills won Prose with her performance of Spirit of Hiroshima by M.
Matsubara. Mills placed second in Informative Speaking with her oration on
emetaphobia. She was also named the Collegiate Forensics Association
Co-Champion in Informative Speaking for the 2006-2007 along with three other
students who were locked in a four way tie.
David Biglari placed second in prose with his performance of "Lady Bug" by
David J. Flood. Biglari and Partner Jordan Walter were the 4th place duo
interpretation with their performance of "The Man Who Couldn't Dance" by
Jason Katimas. Biglari and partner David Kosak were the fifth place duo with
their performance from "The Normal Heart" by Larry Kramer. Biglari was sixth
place in Impromptu Speaking. Biglari was the third place speaker in the
Individual Events Sweepstakes at the tournament. Jordan Walter placed sixth
in Dramatic Interpretation with her reading of "Talking Dirty and Laying
Low" by Lesa Lockford.
David Kosak placed third in Dramatic Interpretation with his reading of "Men
Inside" by Eric Bogosian. Nikki Goh was fourth place in After Dinner
Speaking with her speech on "Chavs." As a team, the group which also
included Idiyatu Akande and Mami Casse were the fifth place team in School
Sweepstakes.
