Heather L. Scheuerman received her B.A. from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in Sociology, Psychology, and Spanish in 2005. She completed her M.A. in 2008 and her Ph.D. in 2011 in Sociology at Emory University. As of the fall of 2011, Dr. Scheuerman joined Towson University. Her teaching interests include criminology, theories of crime, delinquency, and social psychology.
Dr. Scheuerman's research centers on criminology, social psychology, and gender. Her research examines how social psychological processes impact behavior, especially crime or deviance. Her dissertation draws from the criminological and social psychological literatures to clarify how combinations of different types of injustice and the legitimacy of conventional or criminal coping behavior affect one's propensity for engaging in crime or deviance.
