Bio

Bill Tsitsos is Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, & Criminal Justice at Towson University.  His article entitled “Race Differences in Congregational Social Service Activity” was published in the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion in 2003.  Besides the sociology of religion, he is also interested in the sociology of culture, particularly music-based subcultures.  Bill teaches courses in Sociology of Popular Culture and Sociology of Religion, and he is developing a class in the Sociology of Food.  Dr. Tsitsos is currently working on an article analyzing the straight edge hardcore punk music scene as a form of ascetic religion.
