Kimberly Dukes joined the department of Anthropology in 2008, after receiving her PhD from Temple University. Her regional interests are in South Asia, India, Nepal, and China, where she studies issues of nationalism and transnationalism, visual culture, film, and media. She is particularly interested in the construction of various kinds of belonging in the contemporary world, especially the changing nature of citizenship—both legal and cultural—and national identities.  While living in Tibetan nomadic areas in China and in the Himalayan regions of northern India, Dr. Dukes learned to like butter tea, and developed an abiding interest in yeti and other monsters. At Towson, she teaches in both Anthropology and Cultural Studies.
