SUMMER IN MARYLAND PROGRAM
July 2 - July 29, 2009
The Summer in Maryland
Program (SIM) works with the English Language Center at Towson University
to provide an opportunity
for students from other countries to come to the United States to improve
their conversational English. They also learn about life and culture,
and participate in campus life.
Highlights of the Summer in Maryland program include the following:
- Intensive
English language classes are taught by professional
university faculty of the English Language Center. Students will attend daily classes,
with a total of 60 hours of instruction, which encourages confidence
while speaking English.
- A diagnostic test of spoken English
will be administered to help instructors meet the individual needs
of students.
- American students will meet with students
to form conversational groups to practice conversation skills.
- Students live on campus in university
housing and have access to all facilities on campus. Housing is
secure with entry cards and security personnel is available at
all times.
- Lunches are provided weekdays at
Glen Dining Hall, where students can choose from a variety of
menus and can eat all they would like.
- A certificate of completion will be
awarded at the graduation ceremony held at the end of the program.
- Students will earn two credits
transferred to their home institution from Towson University.
