INFORMATION FOR UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

All students must apply to graduate; participation in the Commencement ceremony is optional.  Students in "pre" majors are not eligible to apply for graduation.

Deadlines to apply for undergraduate graduation

Spring - January 20th (online application deadline)

Summer - July 10th (online application deadline)

Fall - August 21st (online application deadline)

Contact the Undergraduate Graduation Office at 410-704-2095 after these dates.

All requirements must be satisfied at the end of the anticipated graduation term in order to participate in the Commencement ceremony.  Repeating courses in which prior grades of C-, D+ or D were earned will not raise the earned units; it will only raise the cumulative grade point average if a higher grade is earned.  NOTE:  Students must register for additional credits to compensate for this repeat adjustment.

Important Steps to Follow

1. Review your degree progress report for the following by logging onto Towson Online Services.
Click on Self Service, Student Center, under the heading Academics, click on the drop down and select Degree Progress Report and click the arrow (go).

  • Verify that all Gen Ed's are complete.

  • Make certain courses have been adjusted for repeats, third attempts, grades posted for incompletes, etc.  A Third Attempt of a Course Petition (PDF) form will need to be completed for any “unauthorized repeats”.

  • Check the major/minor listed on your academic record.  Changes can be made by completing the Change of Major form. Check with your academic adviser to ensure that all of your major/minor requirements will be completed for the term in which you plan to graduate.  Drop any majors/minors you do not plan to complete.

2. Review your name as it is listed on your academic record.

  • This is how your name will appear in the commencement program and on your diploma.  A Change of Name Form (PDF) must be submitted along with official documentation to the Registrar's Office to request a name change.

3.  Review your permanent home address

  • Diplomas and other important graduation information will be mailed to this address.
