Zaleski Scholarship in State and Local Government
Two $2,000 scholarships will be awarded for the spring 2009 semester
Eligibility:
-
Must be majoring in metropolitan studies or Political Science
concentrating on state and local politics
-
Must have junior standing in the Spring 2009 semester (60-89 units)
-
Must have a 3.2 cumulative grade point average or greater at the
time of application
To apply submit the following to the Department of Political Science by
4:00pm on Friday, December 19:
-
a one or two page resume,
-
a 300 word essay describing why you are interested in focusing your
career on public service at the state and local level of government,
and
-
a current unofficial Towson University transcript.
Smart A. Ekpo Scholarship in African-American Politics
One $465 scholarship will be awarded for the spring 2009 semester
Eligibility:
-
You must be a political science major
-
You must have junior standing in the Spring 2009 semester (60-89
units)
-
You must have a cumulative quality point average of 3.0 or higher at
the time of application.
To apply submit the following to the Department of Political Science by
4:00pm on Friday, December 19:
-
a curriculum vitae or resume,
-
a Towson University transcript, and
-
a one-page typed single-spaced essay that describes your interest in
African-American politics and culture as demonstrated through your
studies, extracurricular activities, experiences, or career goals.
Nicholas Ziolkowski Memorial Scholarship
Either one $2,921 scholarship or two $1,460 scholarships will be awarded
for the spring 2009 Semester.
Eligibility:
-
You must be a current or entering full time Towson University
student
-
You must have served or be serving your country through active duty
in any branch of the armed forces or National Guard or You must have
served as agents for change through full time service in a
non-governmental or governmental organization, like the Peace Corps.
Preference will be given to students enrolled in the College of Liberal
Arts.
To apply submit the following to the Department of Political Science by
4:00pm on Friday, December 19:
-
an application for the Ziolkowski Scholarship (available online or
from the Department of Political Science);
-
a letter of recommendation from someone in a supervisory position in
your area of national service (commanding officer, work supervisor)
who can verify your length and type of service and provide a
personal recommendation; and
-
an essay that describes the unique ways that your academic and
personal values have been shaped by your service to your country.
This essay must not exceed 2 double spaced typed pages.
