Materials Research Lab

The Materials Research Laboratory has been recently established with support from the National Science Foundation' s Major Research Initiative. This laboratory has facilities to carry out state-of-the art research on thin films of complex multicomponent materials.

Facilities:

(i) Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) system for fabrication of epitaxial thin films.

(ii) Cryogenic systems for electrical and magneto-transport measurements of thin films

(iii) Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer (Composition analysis of the thin films, in collaboration with the Geosciences group)

Research:

The current research of the materials physics group focuses on the development of perovskite metal oxide thin films for electronic sensor applications such as thermal infrared detectors and magnetic sensors.
