Faulty Pronouns - Exercise 2

 

Directions: Each sentence below contains a hidden antecedent which results in faulty pronoun reference.  Rewrite each sentence, repairing the hidden antecedents by means of one of the methods shown to you.

1.   Trumpet playing can be very entertaining, but it is a difficult instrument to master.

          

2.   The student's mother felt upset when she received a “D” in mathematics.

          

3.   We looked at Senator Smith's report and felt that she had worked hard on the

      legislation.

          

4.   As I was preparing the dog's meal, it whined incessantly.

          

5.   It is a good idea to have farm experience before buying one.
