Membership
Membership in OLLI is a requirement to register for classes in the fall and spring semesters. Anyone over age 50 is welcome to join OLLI as a regular member. Supporting memberships are offered to Towson University faculty and staff of any age.
Course Length and Times
Each semester is divided into two four-week sessions separated by a week with no classes. Some courses are only four weeks in length while others are eight weeks. Classes are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m., and 1 p.m. and are one hour and fifteen minutes in length unless stated otherwise in the catalog. Each class meets once a week. Classes are held at 7400 York Road, suite 100.
Topics
Courses are offered in the fields of music, art history, film, literature, religion, philosophy, history, political science, current events and physical science.
Book Clubs
OLLI hosts two book clubs, a mystery book club and another that includes both fiction and non-fiction. Each book club meets four times during the semester.
Learning Environment
There is no required homework, and no grades or credits are issued. People participate for the challenge, stimulation, and love of learning. Faculty members come from local colleges and universities (including Towson University), local art and music institutions, the retired community of university and high school teachers, and also may be OLLI members who have teaching skills and expertise in a particular field or area of interest.
A Preview of spring classes is held in January of each year and of fall classes in August. Guests are welcome. For more information about the Previews, please call 410-704-3535 .
