Maryland Alliance for Information Security Assurance

Division of Economic and Community Outreach

The Maryland Alliance for Information Security Assurance (MAISA) was formed by Towson University - a NSA and DHS designated National Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education. The main objective of MAISA is to strengthen information technology security assurance programs in Maryland Community Colleges, Technical Schools and Universities, and to support Maryland’s efforts to develop Homeland Security initiatives through linkages between these academic institutions and federal, state and local governments.

Membership in The MAISA is comprised of five universities and ten community colleges working collaboratively to provide the following opportunities:

  • Information Security Assurance curriculum development
  • Course and program sharing
  • Sharing articulation models between community colleges and universities
  • Networking with administrators and faculty involved with security training
  • Security training workshops
  • Help with adoption and mapping courses to NSA standards
  • Take advantage of the Center of Excellence status and resources
  • Grant funding available for training and equipment

  • Community Colleges of Baltimore County

  • Morgan State University
  • Prince George's Community College
  • University of Baltimore

The Director for Applied Information Technology will expand the Information Assurance consortium of academic, public sector, and private sector technology agencies and companies across the Maryland communities to establish and coordinate Information Assurance assistance from the MAISA.
