AIT 610: SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Credit Hrs: 3

Contact Hrs: 4 (3 lecture hours and 1 lab hour)

Prerequisite: AIT 500 and 501 or equivalent

 

Course Description: Structured and object-oriented analysis, design and implementation of information systems; distributed information systems; information systems life cycle models, platforms, and security. Discussions of requirements definition, modeling tools, quality assurance, and development environments.

 

Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course students should:

  1. be able to perform full analysis of information systems in the context of the system lifecycle using structured and object-oriented approaches.
  2. acquire skills in gathering, analysis, and synthesis of information leading to the functional and performance requirements for an information system.
  3. be familiar with tools and methodologies and their application throughout the information systems life cycle.
  4. be able to develop logical and physical designs for large-scale information systems.
  5. be able to plan the implementation, testing, evaluation, and maintenance of new information systems.
  6. understand and integrate quality assurance into system development process.
  7. acquire skills in evaluating, summarizing, and presenting recommendations to management or clients.
