AIT 610: SYSTEMS DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

Contact Hrs: 4 (3 lecture hours and 1 lab hour)
Prerequisite: AIT 500 and 501 or equivalent
Course Description: Structured and object-oriented analysis, design and implementation of information systems; distributed information systems; information systems life cycle models, platforms, and security. Discussions of requirements definition, modeling tools, quality assurance, and development environments.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of this course students should:
- be able to perform full analysis of information systems in the context of the system lifecycle using structured and object-oriented approaches.
- acquire skills in gathering, analysis, and synthesis of information leading to the functional and performance requirements for an information system.
- be familiar with tools and methodologies and their application throughout the information systems life cycle.
- be able to develop logical and physical designs for large-scale information systems.
- be able to plan the implementation, testing, evaluation, and maintenance of new information systems.
- understand and integrate quality assurance into system development process.
- acquire skills in evaluating, summarizing, and presenting recommendations to management or clients.
