Assistant Professor: Generalist and Early Field Experience Supervisor

The Department of Elementary Education invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position.
Position:
The position includes teaching courses as a generalist in a field-based elementary education (grades 1 through 6) teacher certification program at the undergraduate level. The candidate should be able to teach a methods course in elementary social studies, and/or assessment strategies for future elementary teachers, and/or classroom management courses to pre-service teachers. The selected candidate will teach three courses per semester for the first three years of the tenure-track. The faculty member may be asked to teach one or more courses off campus in a Professional Development School setting and/or to supervise pre-service teacher candidates in an early field experience. Additional activities include advising students, engaging in scholarly activities, and participating in internal and external service activities. The faculty member may also be asked to teach graduate courses in the M. Ed. Program or in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program.
Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must have an earned terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Elementary Education, Teacher Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field; 3 years of successful classroom teaching experiences in grades 1-6; excellent communication and human relations skills; demonstrated proficiency with educational technology; and evidence of scholarly potential. ABDs may apply if all requirements for the degree will be completed within six months of starting the position. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
Desired Qualifications:
Desired qualifications include 3 or more years of successful classroom teaching experiences in grades 1 through 6 in public schools in the United States; experiences with successful grant writing; and supervisory experiences with pre-service teacher candidates at the undergraduate level.
