The Department of Elementary Education invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position.

Position:

The position includes teaching an introductory course about English Language Learners to undergraduate majors and other program requirements in Elementary Education. The program leads to certification in grades 1-6 in the state of Maryland. The selected candidate will teach three courses a semester for the first three years of the tenure-track. The faculty member may be asked to teach one or more courses off campus in a Professional Development School setting. Additional activities include advising students, engaging in scholarly activities, and participating in internal and external service activities. The faculty member may also be asked to teach graduate courses in the M.Ed. Program or in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program.

Qualifications:

All candidates must have an earned terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Elementary Education, Teacher Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field; 3 years of successful classroom teaching experiences in grades 1-6; experiences working with and teaching non-native language learners; excellent communication and human relations skills; demonstrated proficiency with educational technology; and evidence of scholarly potential. ABDs may apply if all requirements for the degree will be completed within six months of starting the position. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
