Assistant Professor: Curriculum Assessment and Field-Based Supervision

Position:

The Department of Elementary Education invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. The position includes teaching courses in a field-based program, supervising interns, and coordinating Professional Development School sites in a teacher preparation program (grades 1 through 6) at the undergraduate level. Candidates should expect to spend 2-4 days off campus engaging in supervisory activities, and/or collaborate with a partner in the supervisory responsibilities. Additional activities include advising students, engaging in scholarly activities, and participating in internal and external service activities. The candidate must be able to teach a curriculum/assessment course and supervise interns.

Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must have an earned terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D) in Elementary Education, Teacher Education, or a closely related field; three years of successful classroom teaching in grades 1-6 in classrooms in the United States; excellent communication and human relations skills; demonstrated proficiency with educational technology; interest in supervising pre-service teacher candidates or previous work in a Professional Development School setting; and evidence of scholarly potential. ABDs may apply if all requirements for the degree will be completed within six months of starting the position. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.

Desired Qualifications:
Desired qualifications include supervisory experiences with pre-service teacher candidates at the undergraduate level, especially in Professional Development School settings; previous experience interacting with communities of color.
