The Department of Health Science at Towson University invites applications for a Clinical Assistant Professor, Health Education, Non-Tenure Track position to begin Fall, 2010. This faculty member will teach undergraduate coursework in the Health Science Program, including but not limited to personal health, health behavior, nutrition, sexual behavior, drugs & alcohol and instructional methodologies for both majors and non-majors. This faculty member will enable our Department to ensure that our graduates attain the Health Educator Competencies proscribed by AAHE and enable us to maintain NCATE/AAHE National Recognition status. The faculty member will have an active scholarship agenda, be expected to maintain a high level of clinical excellence, and provide service to the Department, College, and community via outreach activities.  This position is contingent on availability of funds at the time of hire. 

Qualifications

Completed MS in Health Education/Health Promotion or closely related field required. CHES or CHES eligible preferred, with evidence of mastery of health education responsibilities, competencies, and sub-competencies as identified by the profession; expertise in one or more of the following content areas preferred: health behavior, women’s health, health communication, nutrition, sexual behavior, drugs & alcohol, and instructional methodologies. A minimum of three years of professional work in the discipline of health science is required; teaching in higher education preferred; evidence of potential for a productive applied research program and service in the community is required; knowledge and ability to use new technologies in the instructional process required; and ability to develop collaborative relationships with faculty across disciplines inside and outside of the university and with external health organizations required.
