Assistant Professor - Spanish

The Department of Foreign Languages at Towson University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level beginning August 2010.  Position entails teaching Spanish language courses at all levels, culture/civilization, peninsular Spanish literature, and/or other specializations including immigration/ emigration, ethnic and national identity, gender, media, colonial, and cultural studies.  Preference will be given to candidates who are able to integrate new technologies into the teaching of foreign languages.  PhD in hand by the time of appointment and native or near-native fluency in Spanish are required.  Commitment to teaching excellence, scholarship, and service are essential.  The ability to teach a second language is highly desirable.  This position requires a teaching load of 9 contact hours per semester during the first three years. Preliminary interviews will be conducted at the MLA Convention by prearranged appointment for those available.  This position is contingent on funds being available at the time of hire.
