Maryland RN to B.S. Articulation Model
According to the Maryland RN to B.S. Articulation Model, RNs pursing a bachelor's degree in nursing are allowed a maximum of 90 transfer credits. Of those 90 transfer credits, 60 credits may be lower-level liberal arts and science credits
(the number of credits depends on community college non-nursing credits earned) and 30 credits may be upper-level nursing credits based on unencumbered Maryland licensure.
Completion of the following nursing courses at Towson University fulfills the requirements for a bachelor’s degree in nursing based on an active unencumbered Maryland or compact RN license.
NURS 330 Professional Nursing: Bridge (3)
NURS 347 Health Assessment Across the Life Span (3)
NURS 404 Health Care: An Interdisciplinary Approach (3)
NURS 416 Multicultural Health Care (3)
NURS 431 Professional Nursing II: Research (2)
NURS 433 Professional Nursing III: Issues (3)
NURS 455 Nursing Practice VI: Community Health (5)
NURS 459 Nursing Practice VIII: Leadership and Management (4)
NURS Upper-level electives (4) Maryland community college students with an associate’s degree in nursing must apply to both the Undergraduate Admissions Office and the Department of Nursing at Towson University.
The minimum number of credits that must be completed at Towson is 30; this may vary depending on the number of credits transferred from the community college. To ensure successful progress through the nursing major, students will need to complete Organic Chemistry, Nutrition and Microbiology. If these courses were not part of the associate’s degree, they must be completed prior to acceptance into the nursing major -- which could add additional credits to the program. A Statistics course is needed prior to enrolling in NURS 431.
