2011 Tax Filing

Overview

Use GlacierTaxPrep to file your 2011 tax return.  The software is currently being updated and a link will show once it is completed.

Federal Filing Requirement: 

  • If you earned less than $3,700 total income and no federal tax was withheld (see Box 2 of W2), you are not required to file.  See Publication 519 at www.irs.gov.

Maryland Filing Requirement:

  • If you earned less than $9,650 total income and no state tax was withheld (see Box 17 of W2), you are not required to file.  See www.marylandtaxes.com.

Reporting Forms .  If you worked you will be sent:

  • Form W-2
  • Sent by 1/31/11

Tax Treaty/Scholarship.  If you had a tax treaty or taxable scholarship you would have been notified by the NRA Tax Office. You need to wait for:

  • Form 1042-S
  • Sent to you by 3/15/11

If you are an international student or scholar, please see information in the yellow column to the left.  You should not use these services - you must follow different tax rules for foreign nationals!

International Student/Scholar

For payments made to faculty, staff and students who are not US Citizens or Permanent Resident Aliens, Towson University must determine tax status and ensure required tax withholding.  

Individuals will need to e-mail nratax@towson.edu to request an appointment.  You must have your Social Security Number, your hiring paperwork, immigration documents (I-94, I-20/I-797, visa and passport) and proof of I-9 verification to present at time of appointment.

Tax analysis must be complete before any payment will be made to individuals.
