Angeline
Smith Van Evera has taught in the Music History and Literature Division
at Towson University since 2005. She currently teaches
“Introduction to Music in the U.S.” and “Using Information Effectively
in Music.” She has also taught voice and music history at Trinity
Washington University and Washington Adventist University. She
earned a B.A. in music from Saint Michael’s College and a M.M. in vocal
pedagogy from The Catholic University of America. She is a Ph.D.
candidate at Catholic University in historical musicology with a minor
in music theory.
In addition to teaching, researching, and writing, Ms. Van Evera has
served as a reviewer of textbooks including the fourth edition of
American Music: A Panorama by Lorenzo Candelaria and Daniel Kingman
(2011). She also won the American Musicological Society Capital
Chapter’s 2011 Lowens Award for her paper “Wohin? Toward Rediscovering
Forgotten Attributes of Schubert's Die schöne Müllerin
Through Well-Temperament Analysis.”
