Steve Herberman is a graduate of Berklee College Of Music where he studied with Gary Burton, John LaPorta, and Bill Leavitt. He has presented masterclasses in the U.K. and at many universities across the U.S. Herberman has written instructional material for Downbeat magazine, Mel Bay publications, Just Jazz Guitar, the National Guitar Workshop newsletter and columns for Modern Guitars and Guitar International webzines. He is an online instructor for www.mikesmasterclasses.com having taught dozens of highly regarded jazz video lessons. Steve Herberman is on the faculty of Maryland Summer Jazz and the Washington Conservatory and has taught previously at Howard Community College and the Levine School Of Music.

Steve Herberman has performed at Birdland in NYC, Spazio in Los Angeles, the NAMM shows in Anaheim and Nashville, Blues Alley, The Smithsonian Jazz Cafe, the Kennedy Center and the East Coast Jazz Festival all in and around DC. In May 2009 he was a featured guest performer and clinician for the North Wales Jazz Guitar Society in the U.K.

Steve Herberman has taught at Towson University since 1999 as an adjunct faculty member. At Towson he teaches private guitar lessons and masterclasses and has taught guitar history and guitar pedagogy. Herberman has directed the TU jazz guitar ensemble and student combos, and performs in the faculty jazz ensemble. He was a guest artist and symposium moderator at the First World Guitar Congress in June 2004 where he lead discussions with Jim Hall, John Scofield, Ralph Towner and others.

Steve Herberman has recorded three CD's available on his own Reach Music label. Thoughtlines 2002, Action:Reaction 2006, and Ideals 2008.
