Yekaterina Afonasyeva

A native of Moscow, Russia, Yekaterina Afonasyeva began her piano studies at “Lyadov” Children’s Music School No.15. In 1995, after completing high school and music school, she got enrolled in Moscow A.Shnitke Music College for a Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance. In 1998 Ms. Afonasyeva moved to the United States of America with her family where she completed her music education by graduating from Towson University with the Degree of Master of Music in Piano Performance. After graduation Ms. Afonasyeva worked as an accompanist for voice lessons, voice classes, choirs, violin classes, and ballet classes and performances at Baltimore School for the Arts, Peabody Preparatory, Goucher College, Towson University, and UMBC. Ms. Afonasyeva also performed as a soloist and as a member of the ensembles, such as cello/piano duo, violin/piano duo, clarinet/piano duo, violin/cello/piano trio, and so on, in a variety of concerts and events and was a winner of Anne Arundel Notables Competition; 2004 Baltimore Music Club, Inc Student and Senior Competition; Dr. Sidney Lieberman Awards Competition; New York String Competition; Talent Awards Competition at Towson University; Sixteenth Annual Award Ceremony at Peabody Preparatory of the Johns Hopkins University; Piano Concerto Competition; and so on as a soloist as well as a member of duos and trios listed above.

Since 2006 Ms. Afonasyeva has been holding a position of a part-time Professor at Towson University where she teaches piano classes. She also works as an accompanist for choirs, voice masterclasses, and voice lessons at Towson University. Since 2003, each summer, Ms. Afonasyeva works as an accompanist at Young People’s Summer Stock where she plays music from a variety of shows and musicals. Above all Ms. Afonasyeva is also holding a position of an organist and music director at St. Luke Evangelical Lutheran Church in Baltimore.

In December of 2007 she started composing. Her compositions include piano music, arranged piano pieces, and songs. In December of 2008 she produced her own CD, La Vita, in June of 2009 CD, Emotions (piano selections), in December of 2009 CD, Christmas Is Coming!, and in April of 2010 CD, Travel
