David Apple. Band Director, Glenwood Middle School, Howard Co.  Is the holder of the degrees Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Towson State University and Master of Music Education from Shenandoah University Conservatory of Music(1989). Mr. Apple also has additional musical studies from Louisiana State University. In addition to his position at Glenwood, Mr. Apple is a studio trumpet teacher, and has taught elementary and middle school music in public and private schools in Baltimore County. He has performed with various groups in the Baltimore - Washington Area including the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Central Maryland Wind Ensemble, the Maryland Wind Symphony, Lyric Band Hanover, PA, (as a conductor and member of the trumpet section)  and Carroll Concert Band, and was principal trumpet of the Frederick Symphony Orchestra from 1986 to 1988. Mr. Apple is an active adjudicator and clinician. He was a member of  the Board of Directors of the Maryland Wind Symphony and is currently active with the Maryland Band Directors’ Association where he served four terms as All-State Junior Band Manager. Mr. Apple is also a member of the Music Educators’ National Conference, The International Trumpet Guild, the American Federation of Musicians, National Band Association, and is an associate member of the National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors. Mr. Apple is also a Life Member of the Alpha Phi Omega , National Service Fraternity. In his spare time, when not teaching music, Mr. Apple teaches SCUBA Diving to all ages and explores our undersea world with the Professional Scuba Association International & Scuba Diving International.

Kristen (Gottleib) Stoetzer.  Kristen E Stoetzer teaches at Winters Mill high School in Westminster, Maryland. She is responsible for instruction of the band, orchestra, jazz, percussion, and marching ensembles, as well as teaching Exploring Music and Music History and Literature.  Mrs Stoetzer was a graduate assistant at the Peabody Conservatory of Music where she graduated with a Master of Music degree in Wind Conducting. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Music Education from Towson University.  While at Towson, Mrs Stoetzer performed on the clarinet, percussion, and piano in the University's Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble, Marching Band, Clarinet Choir and Chamber Ensembles. She also taught the drumline for the University Marching Band. Mrs Stoetzer conducted the Symphonic Band, Clarinet Choir, and conducted and performed several premiere performances of compositions by Towson University Composers.  As a graduate assistant at Peabody, Mrs Stoetzer was responsible for teaching Basic and Intermediate conducting classes in the absence of the teacher as well as overseeing components of the undergraduate Music Education Practicum. She also directed sectionals, conducted rehearsals, and was the Assistant Conductor of the Peabody Wind Ensemble.  Mrs Stoetzer’s further conducting experience includes various high school bands and orchestras, the Carroll County String Festival, the Towson University Percussion Ensemble, the Carroll County Concert Band, and the Maryland Intercollegiate Band. She received the Gladys Stone Wright scholarship for excellence and achievement in the area of music education from Women Band Directors International.  Most recently, Mrs Stoetzer has been accepted to conducting workshops located in Philadelphia and North Carolina sponsored by the Conductors Guild, Inc. She has been nominated for the Thelma Robinson award, which is given to the participant who demonstrates accomplishment, musicality, and promise in the field of conducting. This award is given every two years. Mrs Stoetzer is an active member of the Maryland Music Educators Association, the Executive Board of the Maryland Band Directors Association, and the Conductors Guild, Inc.

Helen Nathan (BS, magna cum laude, Vocal-General Music Educ. 1994) A student of Ruth Drucker while at Towson, and later of Marlee Sabo at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Helen is currently the Director of Music & Liturgy at the Catholic Church of St. Monica in Duluth, Georgia. She is the former Director of Music and Liturgy at St. James Catholic Church in Mukwonago, Wisconsin, and was a frequent soloist and cantor with the Milwaukee Archdiocesan Choir. Prior to moving to Wisconsin, she was Contemporary Choir Director at St. Charles Borromeo in Pikesville, MD. Helen has sung with many professional ensembles including the Baltimore Symphony Chorus (& Chamber Singers,) and Concert Artists of Baltimore, and has extensive dinner theatre performing and musical-directing credits, including a semi-professional tour as "Sr. Mary Amnesia" in "Nunsense." She is an AGEHR (American Guild of English Handbell Ringers) certified handbell director.

David Smith (1984).  David Smith is currently on the faculty of UMBC where he is the director of the choral department and a vocal instructor.  He was the chair of music at Blackburn College and has served on the faculties of Webster University, Morgan State University and Towson.  Smith has performed with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis, the Des Moines Metro Opera, Kentucky Opera, Louisville Symphony and the Baltimore Symphony.  Internationally, he has performed with the Slaskie Philharmonic in Katorwice Poland, a concert tour of Greece with Opera Aegean and twice with the Israeli Vocal Arts Institute.  He has performed principal roles in I Pagliacci, Carmen, Tosca, Cavalleria Rusticana, Wozzeck, Ermione, Madama Butterfly and other operas.  He has performed as a soloist in Schubert's Mass in G and Beethoven's Mass in C at Carnegie Hall.  For the last few years, Mr. Smith has been the featured tenor soloist with the Concert Artists of Baltimore.  Smith will be the featured artist for the Wagner Society Gala in Washington D.C. honoring James Morris in June, and will depart for an audition tour of Europe later this summer.  The first place winner of the Wagner Division of the 2005 Liederkranz Foundation Competition, Mr. Smith will be returning to New York to perform in concert at Carnegie Hall in April 2005.  In October 2004, at the invitation of Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor, Smith was featured in a Wagner Concert at the Supreme Court.  Smith graduated from Towson University in 1983, he received his Masters degree from Webster University and is currently working on a Doctor of Musical Arts degree.

Mark Trautman (Towson, B.S., cum laude organ performance '93; M.M. with distinction, Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ, '95) is music director of Christ Church in New Brunswick, NJ. He is also chair of the Liturgy and Music Commission of the Episcopal Diocese of New Jersey. As an organ major at Towson, he was a student of Thomas Spacht. His semi-professional choir at historic Christ Church was recently reviewed favorably in the music magazine Classical New Jersey: "A listener hearing the ensemble for the first time had the happy sense of having made a great musical discovery....the choir executed difficult contrapuntal works with excellent musicianship and discipline." Mr. Trautman served as guest conductor/choral clinician for the Ocean County, NJ chapter of the American Guild of Organists in February 2001. In addition, he has served as adjunct Assistant Professor of Music at New Brunswick Theological Seminary in New Brunswick, NJ.
