Thank you for your interest in the Department of Music at Towson University. We are proud of the faculty, staff, and students in our vibrant music program. If you are serious about a professional education in music, our offerings in the Department of Music deserve your careful consideration.

We are recognized as one of the finest music education programs in the State of Maryland and indeed in the region. We have trained more music students in careers in education than any other institution in the state of Maryland. If you attended school in Maryland, chances are you studied with a music teacher trained at Towson University. Our past accomplishments, however, are only spurring us on to greater excellence. Our program continues to grow and change so that our students are equipped for careers in the 21st century.

Our programs in performance and composition draw outstanding students who go on to successful careers in music. These students are attracted to our faculty who are recognized throughout the nation for their performance and research activities. As you take the time to read about our faculty members, I know that you will be impressed by their qualifications. By coming to Towson you will have a chance to work closely with these exceptional performing artists and scholars.

Our new building features many state-of-the-art facilities including a recording studio and a keyboard lab. A wonderful new 150 seat recital hall is available as well for Department of Music concerts.

The Department of Music is fully accredited with the National Association of Schools of Music and is a participating member in the Council for Higher Education in Music.
