| What are the requirements for the Graduate Certificate program? |
| Students are eligible for a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Public Relations and Integrated Communication based on requirements described in the Graduate Catalog of the year they were admitted into the program. |
The following applies to students who were admitted into the program after Spring 2005: Students eligible for a Graduate Certificate in Strategic Public Relations and Integrated Communication may not have earned more than one "C" for any of the required courses:
- MCOM 605, Theory of Public Relations and Organizational Communication (3)
- MCOM 606, Practice of Public Relations and Organizational Communication (3)
- MCOM 631, Research in Mass Communication (3)
- MCOM 630, Professional Communication Competencies in a Changing Environment (3)
- MCOM 683, Communicating in Society: Perception and Reality(3)

What are the requirements for the Masters of Science in Communications Management program?
|
- Completion of required prerequisite courses
- Completion of a total 36 credits of course work: 21 credits of required courses and
15 credits of electives. A minimum of 27 credits (including graduate
project or thesis) must be earned at the 600-800 levels.
- To receive a Master of Science in Communications
Management, students may not have earned more than two Cs for any of the
required or elective courses.

What are the core and elective requirements for the Masters of Science program?

The core and elective requirements for the Masters of Science in Communications Management are as follows:
Core requirements (21 credits):
- MCOM 605, Theory of Public Relations and Organizational Communication (3)
- MCOM 606, Practice of Public Relations and Organizational Communication (3)
- MCOM 631, Research Methods in Mass Communication (3)
- MCOM 630, Professional Communication Competencies in a Changing Environment (3)
- MCOM 683, Communicating in Society: Perception and Reality (3)
Plus six hours of a thesis supervised by a member of the faculty in Mass Communications and Communication Studies, or Management and Marketing:
- MCOM 898 (6), Thesis is used if the student expects to complete the work in two semesters. MCOM 898 can be taken twice for a total of six credits.
- If the student cannot finish the thesis in two semester, the student must register for MCOM 899, Thesis Continuum, for one credit per additional semester.

| Note: |
- Up to six hours of approved graduate courses may be transferred from other approved universities.
- No more than nine credit hours can be taken of 500-level courses.
- Some elective courses may have prerequisites. Students are responsible for making sure that they have met these prerequisites, if any, prior to taking the course.
- Some courses may not be offered each semester. Students should consult each semester's schedule of classes when determining which courses to take.
- No more than two three-credit Independent Study courses may be applied to the degree; and, all Independent Study courses need to be approved by the program director prior to enrollment.
