The following are the requirements for both the Graduate Certificate in Strategic Public Relations and Integrated Communication and the Master of Science in Communications Management:
- A bachelor's degree with at least 24 credits of related course work in one or a combination of the following fields: mass communication, public relations, and advertising.
- At least one advanced undergraduate writing course
- One undergraduate course in statistics
- Or, equivalent prior professional experience that is documented by the student and approved by the program director
- A minimum overall undergraduate GPA of 2.75 for conditional admission or a GPA of 3.00 or higher for full admission. All GPA calculations for admission are based upon the last 60 credits of undergraduate and post-baccalaureate study
- The following materials should be sent directly to the program Graduate school office:
- One letter of recommendation. Use the Recommendation form in the Graduate School Application Packet.
- A resume

A statement in 1,000 words or less (typed, double-spaced), based on your resume, that 1) explains your professional and academic experiences with researching, planning, implementing and evaluating communication programs and campaigns; and 2) highlights at least four learning objectives--what is it that you want to learn in this program. The statement should demonstrate the special knowledge, skills and abilities you have to succeed in this graduate program—not the least of which is your ability to write.
- A one-page cover letter that indicates when you want to begin your course of studies and when you expect to join a cohort, which is when you will start the set of courses in the certificate program.
