1. Pre-Mass Communication

2. Semester One after completion of PMCO requirements (15 units)
Required:
- MCOM214 Principles of Advertising
- MCOM253 Principles of Strategic Public Relations and Integrated Communications
Recommended:
- Track elective (check prerequisites for each course)
- MCOM255 Newswriting (recommended)
- Additional elective
Declare your major and track by the end of Semester One
3. Semester Two (15 units)
Required: 2 of the following
- MCOM357 Public Relations Writing
- COMM419 Organizational Communication
- MCOM325 Advertising Copywriting
- MCOM323 Advertising Media Planning
Recommended:
- MCOM350 Media Law or MCOM433 Media Ethics
- Additional upper-level course (3-6 units)
4. Semester Three (15 units)
Required: Remaining 2 from Semester Two.
- MCOM357 Public Relations Writing
- COMM419 Organizational Communication
- MCOM323 Advertising Media Planning
- MCOM325 Advertising Copywriting
and
- MCOM 490 Mass Communication Research (preferred time*)

5. Semester Four (12-15 units)

- MCOM447 Advertising Campaigns
- MCOM453 Public Relations and Integrated Communications Campaign

- Additional upper-level courses (6-9 units)
* This course is sometimes open to graduating seniors only. If so, students can take it at a later semester.
