Finding and Applying for Private Scholarships
Various businesses, foundations and civic organizations offer private scholarships. Check directly with groups in your local community or use private search sites to find scholarships. All of the listed search services are free, but many of these sites rely on advertising to fund their operations. (TU does not endorse these sites or any of the products or services they advertise.)
Never pay for scholarship search services or applications!
Arranging Payments from Private Scholarships
Do you have a private scholarship from outside the university and need to know how to arrange for payment to your student account?
When you receive scholarships from a private organization outside the university (not including Maryland State scholarships), contact the Towson University Office of the Bursar to arrange for payment of scholarship funds. The Office of the Bursar will disburse scholarship proceeds in accordance with procedures and policies set by the private scholarship donors and Towson University. You may defer partial payment of university charges before receipt of scholarship proceeds by forwarding a copy of the scholarship award letter to the Office of the Bursar. Any outstanding balance created if you or the donor fails to provide the university with adequate, timely information will become your financial obligation.
