Scholarships
Scholarships are available to entering undergraduates and current students through various sources. Scholarships are awarded based on merit, financial need, or sometimes a combination of merit and need. Carefully review the deadlines and requirements when you apply for a scholarship. Some scholarships, in particular those from the state of Maryland require applicants to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA.
Scholarship Seeker search tips: When using the Scholarship Seeker, make your search as broad as possible. To view the maximum number of scholarships, select between graduate or undergraduate, and leave the other options blank. Selecting a major, such as English, may show you a scholarship specific only to English majors, but will not show you scholarships open to all majors, or those open to anyone in a specific college of the university, like the College of Liberal Arts.
Private scholarships are available thorugh various businesses, foundations and civic organizations. Check online resources and directly with groups in your local community.
