Transfer To-Do List

The TIGER Pledge and Welcome to Towson

A Message from the Vice President for Student Affairs

I know that as you receive this very important To-Do List, you find yourself living in two worlds—your current life and the life you are transitioning to at Towson University. I hope you are as excited to become part of the Towson University community as we are to welcome you.

As a student at Towson, you can expect to meet exceptional faculty and staff who will challenge you to think in new dimensions. I hope you will embrace the Towson University
community as your home and become fully engaged in all aspects of your college experience. By taking full advantage of the many services, programs and learning opportunities that will be available to you, you will more likely have a satisfying and
successful experience.

Towson University’s TIGER Pledge articulates expectations and standards of behavior for members of our community, and it’s as relevant to transferring students as it is to first-time students. The TIGER Pledge states:

As a TU student I will…

Take responsibility for myself and the choices I have made.
Imagine success and work hard to achieve my academic goals.
Give my best in showing respect for myself and others.
Engage in my community to make a difference.
Remember to pause to celebrate my accomplishments.

We often hear new students say, “it’s so different from my last school”—not only the class work but also the freedom that comes from being a student at a four-year institution. For
transferring students, your time here will be short and I strongly encourage you to take advantage of all that is offered to help you become connected and involved. Your time will go by very quickly and we look forward to working with you to make the most of your educational experience.

Ultimately, you alone are responsible for your actions and your success at TU but I want to assure you that you can count on our programs, services, faculty, staff and other students to assist you in achieving your goals.

More information will be available in January about the Tiger Pledge and your responsibilities as a member of our community. I look forward to meeting you in the near future.

Go Tigers!
