Golden ID Tuition Waiver Program

Through the Golden ID Tuition Waiver Program, Towson University and other University System of Maryland Student in Golden ID programinstitutions extend special privileges to senior citizens, including tuition waiver, use of library, recreational facilities, and discounts on parking permits.

To be accepted in the Golden ID Program, an applicant must be:

  • At least 60 years of age (proof required)

  • A legal resident of the state of Maryland (one-year minimum residency required)

  • Not engaged in gainful employment for more than 20 hours per week

  • One whose chief income is derived from retirement benefits

Benefits

The Golden ID Program offers holders a variety of benefits:

  • A substantially discounted flat-fee rate for students taking up to three undergraduate or graduate courses (with 11-unit maximum) in fall or spring terms and for up to two courses (with 7-unit maximum) in all summer sessions, all on a space available basis. If a student registers beyond these limits, then they will pay regular tuition and full-time fee rates owed for the additional credits.

  • All special fees, where applicable (labs, special writing courses, etc.), will be assessed beyond the flat-fee rate

  • A substantially discounted parking fee for Golden ID Program students who drive to campus

  • Free access to campus athletic events and Cook Library

  • Discounts to campus cultural events charging admission

  • Instant access to the audit option, if desired

Exclusions

The following courses are billed at the published rates:

  • Minimester

  • Special format courses (those directly dependent upon student tuition for faculty salaries)

  • All courses and programs offered as part of the Towson Learning Network (TLN)

Please Note: Cook Library borrowing privileges, free access to campus recreational facilities, and other campus benefits are not available to card-holders during any period of non-enrollment. Campus benefits and facilities are only available to currently enrolled students.  If you are not enrolled during a current or future term, then your benefits may be deactivated.

How to Enroll

1. If you are not a current Towson student, you will need to enroll in a degree or non-degree-seeking program.

Non-degree students not currently attending must complete a Non-Degree Enrollment Form to register for the upcoming term.

Degree candidates not currently attending must file a Readmission Form well in advance of the registration period.

2. Submit a Golden ID Enrollment Form.

3. Obtain a TU OneCard

The OneCard can be acquired at Auxiliary Services in the University Union, room 118.

4. If parking on the Towson University campus, you must purchase a parking permit, which will be available two weeks before the start of each term.

Parking permits can be purchased at Auxiliary Services in the University Union.

 

Completed forms should be returned to the university by mail or fax.
