What do you like most about your education classes?
“My classes are so hands-on. I get to interact with kids all day. Outside of class, I observe at the Towson day care center to learn more about the best way to interact with children and how they interact with each other.”
Is your learning experience as a special education major – and particularly your research experience – what you had anticipated?
“When I first got to college and heard the word ‘research,’ I immediately thought of 20-page papers based on formulas and methods established by scientists. Now, I realize that I am researching right in my own major when I observe children like the ones I will be teaching when I graduate.”
When you are not in class, what do you do for fun?
“There is so much to do on campus. I always have so many things to choose from. Do I hang out with my friends in Paws for Open Mic Night? Do I go to the movie in my residence hall? Or should I go to the basketball game? Sometimes I go out to the club called the Latin Palace – I like to dance to Spanish music!”
Do you have a favorite place to eat on campus?
“There are so many dining choices on campus, each with unique food choices. Every day I make a list of where I want to dine so that I can indulge in each dining hall’s specialties.”
What kinds of safety measures does Towson take to ensure that you feel comfortable on campus?
“I always feel safe walking around campus. When my friends and I are out we see police officers in their cars and on their bikes around campus. There are blue light phones all over campus, which no one I know has ever had to use. Or we can even use the safe ride shuttle service and the police escort service for after hours.”
