Do you have to give up all the activities you enjoyed in high school?
I did tons of things in high school–music, drama and sports. They say you won’t have time to do it all in college. But there is time to do everything. I play club tennis, work part-time, intern downtown, play poker with my friends on Friday nights and always get my schoolwork done.
How did you know that TU was right for you?
Because of my interests in international relations and government, I wanted to be near Washington, D.C. But I’m from a small town and knew I wasn’t ready for the city life. At Towson I get the best of both worlds.
Why did you join the Honors College?
Students who choose the Honors College want interesting classes and are dedicated to working hard. It’s exciting to be in honors classes–students are ready to go and learn.
Did you study abroad?
I spent one Minimester in Mexico and a spring in Spain and earned credit for both my Spanish and political science majors. I love to travel. You're constantly exposed to different ideas when you’re in a different country.

What’s your internship like?
I’m an intern for Immigration Legal Services at the Hispanic Apostolate in downtown Baltimore. I’m fluent in Spanish and get to use my Spanish every day I work. I work closely with three lawyers, helping them register Spanish-speaking clients who are seeking help. It’s great practice.
Is it hard to work and go to school?
I work part-time for the events department on campus. I help set up for athletics and other major events. I work as much as I can, depending on my study load. My parents were worried having a job would take away from my studies, but it hasn’t.
