Students can register for TU’s free text-message notification system. In the case of an emergency, text messages are sent to all registered textmessage- capable mobile phones, Blackberrys, wireless PDAs, pagers, smart or satellite phones, and e-mail addresses. The service also posts these messages on the university’s website. The messages will pop up on the computer screen for anyone using Google, Yahoo! or AOL as his or her home page.
The Towson University Police Department is a law enforcement
agency that provides a full range of both police and security services
to the universitycommunity. University Police are committed to
delivering the highest-quality policing and public safety services 24
hours a day, every day. The department is located in the General
Services Building, 20 W. Towsontown Blvd., across the street from
the entrance to Burdick Hall. If you ever have an emergency, just dial

In accordance with the guidelines established by Towson University and pursuant to federal law, all current and prospective students may request and receive a copy of the Towson University AnnualCampus Security Report (Clery Report). Copies of the report may be obtained from the Towson University Police by visiting the department in person, by calling 410-704-2505, or online at University Police website.
The university maintains an escort service that operates during the
hours of darkness while school is in session. Walking and riding
escorts provide point-to-point service. Please call 410-704-7233. You
may also contact the University Police via campus emergency blue
light telephones to request an escort any time of the day.
Towson University has installed emergency blue light phones around
the campus should the need arise to contact the police. Crime
prevention should be the concern of each individual and the
entire community. To report a crime or other campus emergency, call
410-704-2133 (4-2133 from any campus phone) immediately.
