On-Campus Resident Students
Freshman
on-campus residents MAY NOT have a vehicle on campus at any
time unless they have obtained a permit through a disability waiver
or were selected from the parking wait list. Individuals who
violate this restriction may be subject to parking citations
and may be referred to Judicial Affairs. In early August,
you can begin checking the Parking Web site to
determine if or when a wait list for on-campus resident freshman parking
will become available. When this date is confirmed, you are welcome to
add your name to the list to be considered for a parking permit. You
should act early to get your name on the list.
Off-Campus Students/Commuting Students
If you are planning to live off campus, please visit
the Parking Web site and click on Buy Permit Now to purchase a permit as soon as they go on sale over the summer.
Permit sales are expected to begin in early August. You can also
purchase a permit at the Ticket Office across across from the
University Store in the University Union.
General Parking Information
- All vehicles parked on campus from 6 a.m.–8 p.m.,
Monday–Thursday,
and 6 a.m.–3 p.m. on Friday must have a valid parking permit or
must
use a designated visitor or metered parking space.
- Parking regulations are in effect to help ensure safe and
adequate
parking for the entire campus community. Vehicles parked in
violation
of regulations may be issued a citation.
- Parking regulations are subject to change. To view the current
regulations please visit the Parking Web site.
- Permits are not required on weekends or on official university holidays when the campus is closed.
- If your vehicle is not registered in the state of Maryland, the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration requires the purchase of a Nonresident Permit for vehicles registered in other states, when the driver of the vehicle is a student attending a school in Maryland for a period in excess of 30 days. As a convenience, students can purchase Nonresident Permits at the Auxiliary Services
Ticket Office located across from the University Store in the University Union. Students must bring a photocopy of their driver's license, student ID and vehicle registration card.
Alternative Transportation Options
- The university operates a shuttle service that serves all locations on campus. The shuttle operates from 7:30 a.m.–10 p.m., Monday– Friday, and noon–10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
- Para-transit service is available for individuals with certified mobility issues. Service may be arranged by contacting 410-704-RIDE (7433) (HVAN).
- The University Police provide security transports during
evening hours when the shuttle does not operate. To request this
service, please call 410-704-RIDE (7433).
- The Maryland Transit Administration provides bus service between Towson, downtown Baltimore and elsewhere.
- A number of local cab companies cater to the Towson area.
